MGC to Begin Public Review of Sports Wagering License Applications

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will begin publicly reviewing applications for sports wagering licenses next week in a series of public meetings to be held throughout December and early January.

Those reviews will begin during a set of public meetings to be held beginning at 10 a.m. on December 6-8, which will cover the Category 1 Sports Wagering License applications received. Ahead of those meetings next week, a public hearing will be held on Monday, December 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to allow members of the public an opportunity to offer comments on the applications. Those wishing to provide written comment on the applications may do so by emailing mgccomments@massgaming.gov with ‘Category 1 public comment’ in the subject line. Written comments are preferred in advance of Friday, December 2, but will be accepted on a rolling basis. Meetings will be live-streamed on our website.

During the public meetings, each operator applicant will present their application to the Commission, which will then be followed by an opportunity for Commissioners to pose questions to the applicants. MGC staff will also be available during this time to answer clarifying questions from Commissioners regarding retail operations at casinos, IT, responsible gaming, and finance/revenue.

Untethered Category 3 Sports Wagering License applications will be reviewed at public meetings scheduled for January 2023. Those meetings are slated to begin at 10 a.m. on January 4-6, 9-11, 13, & 17-19, as well as at 1 p.m. on January 12. An associated public hearing is scheduled to be held on January 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The meeting schedule is subject to change. Redacted applications submitted to the MGC will be uploaded to the MGC website in the coming days.
