|

  • Prepared By: SEIGMA Research Team: Dr. Rachel A. Volberg, Robert J. Williams, Martha Zorn, Valerie Evans
  • Release Date: April 03, 2024

The main purpose of this report is to determine whether and how gambling attitudes, gambling behavior, and problem gambling prevalence changed in Massachusetts following the introduction of casinos. Results from this Follow-up General Population Survey are directly comparable to a 2013-14 baseline survey. In addition to these overall assessments, the report addresses the question of whether the demographic and behavioral patterns of gambling and problem gambling prevalence changed in Massachusetts between 2013 and 2021.

Please note that the report and presentation were updated on 8/1/24. The report was updated on pp. 47-48 to correct Figure 10 and the text above it to reflect total gambling expenditures rather than total casino expenditures from the BGPS. The presentation was updated to make the same correction to slide 26.
