The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) is a proud sponsor of the 2018 Commonwealth Workforce Coalition Conference.

MGC Commissioner Bruce Stebbins will deliver remarks about MGC’s ongoing efforts to ensure diversity during the construction phase of casino development. Commissioner Stebbins will present information about MGC’s participation in the recently launched “Build A Life That Works” campaign, a first-of-its-kind statewide recruitment initiative to encourage more women to pursue a career in the union building trades. This innovative and collaborative statewide initiative aims to increase tradeswomen in the building trades to 20% by 2020.

MGM Springfield General Manager Alex Dixon is scheduled to deliver the luncheon keynote address. Dixon will speak about MGM’s extensive workforce development efforts including several upcoming mass hiring events in May and June. He will also highlight the availability of 3,000 jobs when the luxury resort opens in August 2018.

In addition, MGC’s Director of Workforce, Supplier, and Diversity Development Jill Griffin will lead a workshop titled “Increasing Access to Gaming Industry Jobs.” Griffin will discuss MGC’s work to maximize access to the thousands of construction jobs and 7,500+ operations careers created by the state’s emerging expanded gaming industry. This interactive workshop will provide details on the hiring process, helpful tools for seeking employment and offer live feedback to educate participants about job placement at casinos.
