VIDEO: MGC’s road to opening MGM Springfield

An estimated 150,000 people visited MGM Springfield on its opening weekend in August 2018, filling the city with a grand parade down Main Street and patronizing local businesses. The culmination of a story seven years in the making, those visitors saw the end result of a coordinated, years-long effort. The successful opening was the product of work by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and countless stakeholders, including the Massachusetts Legislature, Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Department of Transportation, City of Springfield, Springfield Police, Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling, Holyoke Community College, Springfield Technical Community College, and of course the collaborative efforts of MGM Springfield and MGM Resorts International.
