VIDEO: Commission concludes slot license award deliberations with preliminary decision, final vote expected tomorrow with press conference to immediately follow

Today the Massachusetts Gaming Commission concluded several days of public presentations and deliberations which culminated in a preliminary vote to issue the state’s single slots license. The five member Commission voted 3 to 2 to issue the slots license to the Springfield Gaming and Redevelopment LLC (Penn National) proposal in Plainville, MA, provided that the applicant accept a list of approximately 18 licensing conditions. The Commission instructed Penn National to return to public meeting tomorrow morning at 9:30am at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to confirm their acceptance of the license conditions. At that time, the Commission will take a final vote to award Springfield Gaming and Redevelopment LLC the Commonwealth’s sole Category 2 (slots) gaming license.
