Massachusetts Gaming Commission Holds Host Community Hearing in Brockton regarding Mass Gaming & Entertainment, LLC’s casino proposal
Commission will not close host community hearing and will leave open for public comment until a date to be determined
WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), representatives from resort-casino applicant Mass Gaming & Entertainment, LLC; members of the public
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is hosting a Host Community hearing as a means to facilitate public discussion in regards to the submitted Category 1 or resort-casino application for Region C (Southeastern Mass). This hearing provides the opportunity for the Commission pose questions to the applicant and address concerns relative to the proposal of Mass Gaming & Entertainment, LLC (“applicant”) to build a gaming establishment in Brockton, Massachusetts including the scope and quality of the gaming area and amenities, the integration of the gaming establishment into the surrounding community and the extent of required mitigation plans. The Commission will hear from other impacted parties and receive input from members of the public from Host and Surrounding Communities. A copy of the applicant’s application is available for review here. No votes or decisions will be made at this hearing; it is simply intended as an opportunity for the Commission to gather information and gauge public sentiment relative to the application.

**UPDATE**: Please note the Commission will NOT officially close tonight’s Host Community hearing. The hearing will remain open as a means to allow for continued submission of public comment until a date to be determined.
In response to the Commission’s request for additional information about the current status of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s resort-casino proposal in Taunton, MA, the Tribe will make a formal presentation during a public meeting before the Commission on March 15, 2016. The details of that public meeting are being finalized and will be announced publicly upon completion.
Please note that the prolonged public comment period will affect the overall Region C evaluation and license determination schedule. The extension of public comments will provide Mass Gaming & Entertainment along with other interested parties the opportunity to provide additional information to the Commission following the Tribe’s presentation. The schedule is now under review and updates will be published when available.
