Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on September 7, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #476 on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will review meeting minutes from MGC meetings previously held on February 8, 2023 and February 9, 2023.

Following that, Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will lead an administrative update, which is expected to cover the start of Responsible Gaming Education Month.

The Investigations and Enforcement Bureau is expected to follow, where they will cover a pair of requests by Plainridge Park Casino for amendments to their gaming floor plan and their beverage license, respectively.

The Sports Wagering Division will then lead the following portion of the meeting, which is expected to cover Q2 quarterly reports from Fanatics Betting & Gaming, Betfair Interactive US, LLC (FanDuel), and WynnBet.

The Racing Division will then lead discussions on Race Horse Development Fund benefits for drivers and jockeys, and a review of a delegation of authority memorandum.

That will be followed by the Sports Wagering Division, which is expected to cover temporary waivers from 205 CMR 248.04(4) from Betr, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, BetMGM, and WynnBet; a request from Betr for waivers from certain provisions of 205 CMR 248.16; a Penn Sports Interactive request for temporary waiver from 205 CMR 248.16(1); as well as an update to house rules by Plainridge Park Casino.

The permanent Executive Director hiring process will be discussed after that, where the Commission will continue a discussion about the potential use of a search firm, as well as the continued selection of a screening committee for the Executive Director.

Research & Responsible Gaming will lead the ensuing portion of the meeting, where they will discuss an addendum to the FY24 Gaming Research Agenda.

Commissioner Updates are set to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is also time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
