Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on September 26, 2024; Conference Call Available

WHO:                    Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Interim Chair Jordan Maynard and Commissioners Brad Hill, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #533 on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Once the meeting is called to order, commissioners will consider meeting minutes from past Commission meetings held on December 20, 2022, August 24, 2023, October 2, 2023, and November 16, 2023. Following that, Executive Director Dean Serpa will provide the Commission with an administrative update. The Community Affairs Division will then share the proposed guidelines for the FY2026 Community Mitigation Fund.

The commissioners anticipate to hear from the Sports Wagering division on updates to house rules for BetMGM, MGM Springfield, and Caesars. The Commission will also consider adding language to the event catalog which would prohibit wagering on individual collegiate awards.

Following sports wagering, general counsel will discuss 205 CMR 219.04: Applying for Leave to Obtain a Renewed Temporary License- Regulation and Amended Small Business Impact Statement for final review and possible adoption.

Mark Vander Linden, Director of Research and Responsible Gaming, will then provide an update on the Section 97 player data project.

Afterwards, the Commission will hear from the Investigation and Enforcement Bureau. The IEB will provide an update on noncompliance matters related to Temporary Category 3 Sports Wagering Licensee BetMGM, LLC (“BetMGM”), and discussion regarding next steps. There will also be a discussion regarding the rebrand of the sportsbook at Plainridge Park Casino to ESPNBet.

Following the IEB, the meeting will move on to a presentation of the Workforce and Vendor Diversity Audit of Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield, and Plainridge Park Casino.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.
