Registration Remains Open for the MGC’s May 14 Conference on Examining Social Impacts of Sports Betting and Changing Gambling Landscape

Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on September 21, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #480 on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will lead an Administrative Update. Following that the Commission anticipates entering into Executive Session to consider information related to an MGM cybersecurity issue. After they return to the public session, the Commission is expected to enter into a separate Executive Session regarding security at MGM Springfield.

The MGC’s Racing Division, upon return to the public session, will then lead a discussion covering notification of use of delegated authority to change post time and/or cancel racing, and the Standard Owners of Massachusetts’ recognition request as Breeders’ representative group.

The Sports Wagering Division is expected to follow, where they will cover a DraftKings request for waivers from 205 CMR 256.05(1), a Fanatics update to house rules, an event petition request, and a request to void wagers from Penn Sports Interactive.

After that, the Legal Division of the MGC is set to lead a discussion regarding a request for approval of TBG Securities as a Qualified Independent Technical Expert in accordance with 205 CMR 243.01(1)(x).

The Community Affairs Division will then continue a discussion on potential modifications to the Community Mitigation Fund. That is expected to be followed by a pair of Executive Sessions, which will cover contract discussions for the Interim Investigations and Enforcement Bureau Director, and Executive Session minutes, respectively.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
