Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on September 15, 2022; Conference Call Available

WHO:                  Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                    The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #393 on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

After the meeting is called to order, Joe Delaney, the chief of the MGC’s Community Affairs Division, will lead a discussion on the Community Mitigation Fund 2022 Boston Police Grant Reallocation.

The meeting will then move to a Discussion of Temporary Licensure for Sports Wagering. During that portion of the meeting, the Commission will discuss Requirements for Temporary Licensure, along with other pre-launch considerations.

The MGC will then hold a discussion regarding potential impacts of temporary licensure, including impacts on mobile/digital sports wagering operators as well as impacts to the public/consumer protection concerns.

That portion of the meeting will round out with a discussion on both a simultaneous vs. staggered launch as well as the contemporaneous process for full operator licensure, including competitive process.

The meeting will then shift to cover MGC Preparations for Matters Related to Sports Wagering. The Commission’s Legal Division will lead that conversation, which will cover an Update on 205 CMR 238.00: House Rules, as well as the Process for Sports Wagering Test Lab Certification.

The MGC will then discuss Horse Racing Applications and Related Issues, where they will cover 205 CMR: new regulation governing the application for a new license for the conduct of horseracing. That portion of the meeting will also cover the impact of the Massachusetts Sports Wagering Act on prospective new horse racing licensee(s) relative to mobile/digital sports wagering.

Commissioner Updates are then set to follow, where the Commission will discuss the Plan for Sports Wagering Roundtable related to mobile/digital sports wagering operators.

There is also time reserved at the end of the meeting for matters the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these matters during this or future meetings.
