Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on October 6, 2022; Conference Call Available

WHO:                  Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                    The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #396 on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

After the meeting is called to order, the commissioners and the Chair will hold a vote on approving meeting minutes for a Commission meeting previously held on June 9, 2022.

Following that vote, the Legal Division’s portion of the meeting will begin, covering the Racing Application Update following the 10/1/22 deadline for submissions, as well as a Tentative Hearings and Meetings Schedule.

Both the Finance and the Legal Divisions will then lead a discussion on Daily Fantasy Sports Tax, as well as a Draft of 205 CMR 240: Adjusted Gross Sports Wagering and Adjusted Gross Fantasy Wagering Receipts Tax Remittance and Reporting.

Executive Director Karen Wells is then slated to begin discussion on the Sports Wagering Application, which will be comprised of multiple discussions, including: a Draft of 205 CMR 211: Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 Sports Wagering Operator License Applications; a Presentation of Sports Wagering Operator Draft Application Form; and a Presentation of Sports Wagering Scoring Process.

The Commission will then discuss Simultaneous vs. Staggered Launch Dates, which will then be followed by the portion of the meeting dedicated to the Vendor Licensing Process. That ensuing discussion will cover a Draft of 205 CMR 234 regarding Sports Wagering Vendors, and a Draft of 205 CMR 202 covering Sports Wagering Authority and Definitions.

A Sports Wagering Implementation Timeline discussion is then set to follow before an Update on Finance Progress and then Commissioner Updates round out the meeting.

There is also time reserved at the end of the meeting for other business the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of this posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these matters during this or future meetings.
