Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on October 25, 2018

Topics include: MGC budget, Baseline Public Safety and Crime Report for Springfield and surrounding areas, Encore Boston Harbor vendor plan, Community Mitigation Fund

WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Interim Chair Gayle Cameron, Commissioner Eileen O’Brien, Commissioner Bruce Stebbins and Commissioner Enrique Zuniga

WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) will hold its 254th open public meeting on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

The public meeting will begin with a general administrative update from Executive Director Ed Bedrosian. Commissioners are expected to hear an update on the closeout of the MGC budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.

Additionally, the Commission will hear a presentation on the baseline public safety and crime report, by crime analyst Christopher W. Bruce. This report, a deliverable of the MGC Research Agenda, will describe baseline conditions pertaining to crime, calls for service, and traffic collisions in and around the City of Springfield prior to the opening of MGM Springfield.

Commissioners also are expected to vote on approval of Encore Boston Harbor’s draft affirmative action plan for local vendors.

Finally, the Commission will discuss the draft guidelines for applications to the 2019 Community Mitigation Fund.
