Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on May 7; Conference Call Available

WHO:                   Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien, Bruce Stebbins, and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #301 on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

After an administrative update from Interim Executive Director Karen Wells and an approval of minutes, MGC’s Director of Research and Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden and Crime Analyst Christopher Bruce will present a public safety report following six months of operations at Encore Boston Harbor.

Dr. Alex Lightbown, MGC’s Director of Racing and Chief Veterinarian, will provide an update on the 2020 live racing season at Plainridge Park Racecourse. A vote on this matter is anticipated. Chief Financial Analyst Chad Bourque will then ask for a vote regarding quarterly local aid payments.

Enforcement Counsel Katherine Hartigan will request that the Commission vote on a qualifier related to MGM Springfield.

Members from the MGC’s Legal Division will then ask that the Commission vote on the following:

  • Final draft of amendments to 205 CMR 134.09: Investigation, Determination, and Appeals for Gaming Establishment Employees and Vendors pertaining to the use of sealed or expunged records; and Amended Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to adopt and finalize the promulgation process
  • Final draft of amendments to 205 CMR 133.04: Duration of Exclusion and Removal from the List pertaining to reinstatement from the voluntary self-exclusion list; and Amended Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to adopt and finalize the promulgation process       
  • Review of draft of 205 CMR 109.01: Authority of the Commission to Act in an Emergency Situation pertaining to the scope of the Commission’s authority and associated exercise thereof; and Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to adopt by emergency and commence the promulgation process

Those votes will be followed by a discussion regarding licensee quarterly reports, led by Director Wells, Interim General Counsel Todd Grossman and Construction Project Oversight Manager Joe Delaney.
