Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on May 4, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #450 on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will vote on meeting minutes from a previously held Mass Gaming Commission (MGC) meeting from November 17, 2022.
Following that, Executive Director Karen Wells will lead an Administrative Update that will cover a Derby Day Update by the MGC’s Director of Racing, Dr. Alex Lightbown.
The MGC’s Research and Responsible Gaming team will then cover the latest research agenda item: Assessing the Influence of Gambling on Public Safety in Massachusetts Cities and Towns During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Analysis of the Influence of Encore Boston Harbor on its Surrounding Community.
The Legal Division is then set to lead the next portion of the meeting, which will cover FBT Everett Realty, LLC v. Massachusetts Gaming Commission, ahead of an expected Executive Session, as well as the following regulations:
- 205 CMR 152.00: Individuals Excluded from Gaming and Sports Wagering
- 205 CMR 222.00: Capital Investment and Monitoring of Project Construction
- 205 CMR 234.00: Sports Wagering Vendors
- 205 CMR 255.00: Play Management
Commissioner Updates are set to follow, where the Commission will discuss the FY24 Commissioners Budget Review. The Community Affairs Division will then take over to discuss Community Mitigation Fund Workforce Development Grant applications.
The Sports Wagering Division will cover an NBA Draft Lottery Inquiry in the ensuing portion of the meeting, before Director Lightbown heads the Racing Division’s section of the meeting, covering a review of a delegation of authority memorandum.
There is time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
