Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on May 26, 2021; Conference Call Available

WHO:               Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:              The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) will hold public meeting #345 on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The MGC will review COVID-19-related orders for gaming establishments in light of Governor Charles Baker’s May 17 announcement lifting all industry-related restrictions, effective May 29, and the Updated Mask Requirements issued by the Department of Public Health, also effective May 29 and consistent with the CDC’s updated guidance. Topics include:

  • MGC COVID Order dated 6/23/2020: Minimum Requirements for the Initial Phase 3 Opening of Gaming Establishments – VOTE
  • MGC COVID Order dated 10/8/2020: Minimum Requirements for the Reintroduction of Roulette at the Category 1 Gaming Establishments – VOTE
  • MGC COVID Order dated 3/11/2021: Minimum Requirements for (1) Expanding Blackjack-Style Tables to Include a 4th Player Position and (2) the Reintroduction of Craps at the Category 1 Gaming Establishments – VOTE

The Racing Division will review MGC-approved COVID-19 plans for horse racing and simulcasting facilities in light of the Governor’s order and CDC guidance. A vote on this matter is anticipated.

General Council Todd Grossman and Director of Diversity and Legislative Affairs Jill Griffin will report on the status of the Governor’s order providing limited relief from certain provisions of the Open Meeting Law. A letter prepared for submission to the Legislature in support of the continued use of remote collaboration technology at public meetings will also be reviewed. A vote on this matter is anticipated.

Director of Racing Dr. Alex Lightbown and Director Griffin will discuss a letter prepared for submission to the Legislature in support of the extension of the horse racing and simulcasting authorization. A vote on this matter is anticipated.
