Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on March 25, 2021; Conference Call Available

WHO:               Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:              The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #340 on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

After an approval of minutes, Executive Director Karen Wells will provide an administrative update, which will include the following:

  • On-site Casino Updates
  • Gaming Agents Operation Update
  • IAGR Conference Status Update

Director of Research and Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden will introduce Crime Analyst Christopher Bruce, who will present on the One-Year Public Safety Reports for MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor.

Community Affairs Division Chief Joe Delaney will provide updates on the Workforce Employment Policies for MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor.

Director of the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau Loretta Lillios, along with Senior Enforcement Counsel Katherine Hartigan, will discuss the following:

  • MGM Springfield Individual Qualifier Determination of Suitability – VOTE
  • Report on IEB’s Assessment of Civil Administrative Penalty on MGM Springfield

Director of Racing Dr. Alex Lightbown and Plainridge Park Casino’s Director of Racing Steve O’Toole will ask that the Commission vote on the following:

  • Plainridge Park Racecourse Request for Approval of Racing Officials and Key Operating Personnel – VOTE
  • Plainridge Park Racecourse Request for Waiver of 205 CMR 3.12(6) – Qualifying Race Requirement – VOTE

The Commission anticipates that it will meet in executive session in accordance with G.L. c.30A, §21(a)(7) to comply with G.L. c.23K, §21(a)(7) for the specific purpose of reviewing the past and future capital expenditures [described in 205 CMR 139.09], and any corresponding submitted multi-year plans, relative to Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor, as discussion of these matters in public would frustrate the purpose of the statute and associated legal authorities. These matters are further governed by 205 CMR 139.02. The public session of the Commission meeting will not reconvene at the conclusion of the executive session.
