Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on June 4; Conference Call Available

WHO:                   Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien, Bruce Stebbins, and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #304 on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

After an approval of minutes, MGC Director of Workforce, Supplier and Diversity Development Jill Griffin will introduce Anita Walker, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, to discuss gaming mitigation and the Safe Harbors Programs.

During an administrative update, Interim Executive Director Karen Wells will review the status of the MGC’s offices. Construction Project Oversight Manager Joe Delaney will then present an update on the license renewal process for Plainridge Park Casino.

During a discussion on licensee sexual harassment policies, the Commission is expected to vote on the following:

  • 205 CMR 138.72: Policies and Procedures for Ensuring a Workplace Free from Unlawful Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation, requiring a system of internal controls for a licensee that includes policies and procedures to ensure a workplace free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation – VOTE

Following a status review and discussion on the opening of horse racing, MGC Director of Racing Dr. Alex Lightbown and Interim General Counsel Todd Grossman will request that the Commission vote on the following:

  • 205 CMR 149.04: Race Horse Development Fund: Distributions; Escrow Accounts, to allow the Horse Race Committee and the Commission flexibility to perform the split in a manner to ensure precise distribution of funds; and Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to begin the promulgation process

Enforcement Counsel Katherine Hartigan will then ask for the Commission to vote on a suitability qualifier related to MGM Springfield.

Chief Financial and Accounting Officer Derek Lennon, alongside Commissioner Zuniga and members from the MGC’s Finance Division, will lead a budget discussion and review incremental costs for Fiscal Year 2021.
