WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #460 on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
After the meeting is called to order, General Counsel Todd Grossman will discuss with the Commission the legal framework relative to the awarding of a sports wagering license.
Following that, the Commission will view a presentation of an application for a Category 2 Sports Wagering Operator License submitted by Massasoit Greyhound Association (d/b/a Raynham Park).
The Commission will then be presented with analysis relevant to the review and evaluation of an application for a Category 2 Sports Wagering Operator License. That analysis will be broken down into three parts: technical components, preliminary financial suitability of the applicant, and a financial and economic impact analysis.
The Commission will then review and evaluate the application in accordance with 205 CMR 218.00, including, but not limited to, the following criteria:
- Experience and Expertise related to Sports Wagering
- Economic impact and other benefits to the Commonwealth if applicant is awarded a license
- Proposed measures related to responsible gaming
- Applicant’s willingness to foster racial, ethnic, and gender diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Technology that the applicant intends to use
- Preliminary Financial Suitability of the applicant
- Other appropriate factors
The Commission is then expected to meet in Executive Session. Once it returns from Executive Session, Commissioner Updates are expected to round out the meeting.
There is also time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
