WHAT:                    The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #368 on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

After the meeting is called to order, Executive Director Karen Wells will provide an administrative update, which will discuss on-site casino updates and COVID-19 updates, as well as the MGC’s IT Equipment and International Travel Policy, and the agency’s Security Awareness Training and Testing Policy. Votes are expected on both of the last two items.

The approval of meeting minutes from the open meeting on January 12, 2022 is also expected to be voted on near the start of the public meeting.

Director of Racing Dr. Alexandra Lightbown will head the Racing Division’s portion of the meeting, where votes are expected to take place on 2020 unpaid winnings from Plainridge Park Racecourse, Suffolk Downs, Wonderland Park and Raynham Park. Votes are also likely on Suffolk Downs’ request for Approval of BetMGM Racing as an Account Wagering Provider, as well as the Authorization for CFAO to pay out funds once approved by the Commission. The Racing Division will also provide an update on Suffolk Downs Compliance with the City of Boston’s COVID Vaccine Requirement.

Director of Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden and Research Manager Marie-Claire Flores-Pajot will lead the Research and Responsible Gaming section that will feature new research from Christopher Bruce, a Crime Analysis Consultant, titled “Assessment of the Casinos’ Impacts on Operating Under the Influence (OUI) and OUI-Involved Traffic Collisions.”

The Commission is expected to hold three votes on Community Mitigation Fund Reserve Applications from Cambridge, East Longmeadow, and Longmeadow in the portion of the meeting headed by the Community Affairs Division.

Votes are also likely for the MGC’s Hiring Authority Policy – which will be presented by Executive Director Wells, Commissioner O’Brien, and General Counsel Todd Grossman – and the Executive Director Annual Review – which Commissioner O’Brien will also lead.

Commissioner Updates on a review of the job description for the Executive Assistant to the Commissioners and any other remaining business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting will occur following those above expected votes.
