Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on January 14; Conference Call Available

WHO:               Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:              The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #332 on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

After an approval of minutes, Executive Director Karen Wells will provide an administrative update, which will include the following:

  • Presentation of Recommendation for MGC Deputy Director, Investigations and Enforcement Bureau Director – VOTE
  • On-Site Casino Updates

General Counsel Todd Grossman, alongside Director of Workforce, Supplier and Diversity Development Jill Griffin and Program Coordinator Crystal Howard, will present legislative updates.

Director of Research and Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden will ask that the Commission vote on a request from Encore Boston Harbor to delay the implementation of the PlayMyWay program. He, alongside Program Manager Teresa Fiore, will then present a GameSense Quarterly Update.

Members from the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau will request that the Commission vote on an entity qualifier related to Encore Boston Harbor, and an individual qualifier related to MGM Springfield.

Director of Racing Dr. Alex Lightbown and Financial Analyst Chad Bourque will ask that the Commission vote on quarterly local aid payments.

It is expected that the Commission will then discuss and vote on the following:

  • Review Evaluation Form and Process for Executive Director – VOTE
  • Recommendation for MGC Secretary Appointment – VOTE
  • Recommendation for MGC Community Mitigation Sub-Committee Chair – VOTE

Following a lunch break, the Commission then anticipates that it will meet in executive session in accordance with G.L. c.30A, §21(a)(3) to discuss strategy with respect to litigation, as discussion of the subject matter at an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the litigating position of the Commission. The public session of the Commission meeting will not reconvene at the conclusion of the executive session.
