Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on January 12, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                  Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                    The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #423 on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the commissioners and the Chair will hold a vote on approving meeting minutes for a Commission meeting previously held on June 22, 2022.

Following those votes, Executive Director Karen Wells will lead an Administrative Update that will cover On-Site Casino Updates, a Request for Additional IT Hires, and a Sports Wagering License Update.

Dr. Alex Lightbown, Director of Racing for the MGC, will head the Racing Division’s portion of the meeting, which will cover Plainridge Park Casino Capital Improvements Request.

Community Affairs Chief Joe Delaney will lead the next portion of the open meeting, where the Commission will discuss a Community Mitigation Fund Budget Update.

The Legal Division will then discuss Sports Wagering Regulations as well as a continued discussion on Promotional Play and tax implications.

Executive Director Wells is then set to cover multiple aspects of Sports Wagering Implementation, including the approval of permitted sports wagering events/catalog, as well as pre-launch marketing and registration.

The Finance Division is then set to round out the meeting with a discussion regarding daily fantasy sports taxation and revenue allocation.

There is time allowed at the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting. The Commission reserves the right to vote on these matters during this or future meetings.
