Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on February 25; Conference Call Available

WHO:               Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:              The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #337 on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

After an approval of minutes, Executive Director Karen Wells will provide an administrative update, which will include on-site casino updates from Investigations and Enforcement Bureau Director Loretta Lillios and Gaming Agents Division Chief Bruce Band.

Representatives from MGM Springfield will then present the licensee’s quarterly report.

Director of Racing Dr. Alex Lightbown, alongside the Harness Horsemen’s Association of New England’s Managing Director Alice Tisbert, will provide a Pension Plan Update. The Commission is then expected to vote on the following:

  • Pari-Mutuel Taxes for Benefits to Jockeys – VOTE

Director of Research and Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden will preview the upcoming Problem Gambling Awareness Month, and will be joined by Victor Ortiz, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Director of Problem Gambling Services, for a presentation on the Problem Gambling Helpline Transition.

Commissioner O’Brien will then lead a discussion related to the Commission’s Executive Director Evaluation.

General Counsel Todd Grossman and Associate General Counsel Carrie Torrisi will ask that the Commission vote on the following:

  • 205 CMR 146.13: Blackjack Table; Card Reader Device; Physical Characteristics; Inspections; 205 CMR 146.49: Cards; Receipt; Storage; Inspections, and Removal; 205 CMR 146.51: Dealing Shoes; Automated Shuffling Devices. – This is an administrative change that will remove all references to the 6-to-5 blackjack variation from the regulation – and Small Business Impact Statement VOTE to begin the promulgation process

Community Affairs Division Chief Joe Delaney will provide an update related to 2021 Community Mitigation Fund applications, and will ask for a Commission vote related to the review of a Community Mitigation Fund grant for the City of Medford.
