Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on February 13, 2020

WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien, Bruce Stebbins, and Enrique Zuniga
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #289 on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
After approval of minutes, Interim Executive Director Karen Wells will provide a general administrative update and a status report on the Region C Request for Information and Request for Public Comments. Director Wells will then request that the Commission vote on two MGM Springfield Qualifiers.
Ombudsman John Ziemba, Construction Project Oversight Manager Joe Delaney, Assistant Secretary Mark Attia from the Executive Office for Administration and Finance, and representatives from the City of Springfield and MGM Springfield will provide an update on MGM Springfield’s Residential Requirement Fulfillment.
Jill Griffin, MGC director of Workforce, Supplier and Diversity Development, will present a Vendor Spotlight, introducing Eddie Owens and Ed Owens, Jr. from Owens Movers, one of New England’s oldest Minority Business Enterprises. The company provides moving services for Encore Boston Harbor.
Director Wells and MGC Licensing Manager William Curtis, alongside representatives from Encore Boston Harbor, will seek a Commission vote on an Alcohol License Amendment Request.
Ombudsman Ziemba will provide a presentation on a newly standardized template for licensee quarterly reports, followed by an intake review of the 2020 Community Mitigation Fund grant applications.
Director Wells, Commissioner Zuniga and Commissioner O’Brien will then lead a follow-up discussion on the License Renewal Process for Plainridge Park Casino. A vote on next steps for this matter is anticipated.
During a discussion on other commission matters, the Commission will provide an update on the search for a new Executive Director.
Chair Judd-Stein will provide an update on the Independent Monitor’s report for Wynn Resorts, and a vote on this matter is anticipated.
