Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on February 1, 2024; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #498 on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will vote on approving meeting minutes from four Commission meetings held in spring 2023. Following that, Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will lead an administrative update covering division updates from Human Resources and the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau (IEB).

A legislative update is expected to follow ahead of the Legal Division’s portion of the meeting, covering a pair of legal regulations.

The Sports Wagering Division is then expected to lead discussions on a pair of requests from Fanatics Betting & Gaming, a review of sports wagering operators’ customer service offerings, as well as an additional sports wagering general request. Both the Legal Division and the Sports Wagering Division will then lead the Commission in discussing a pair of notices of intent to cease sports wagering operations in the Commonwealth.

The IEB is then slated to cover a trio of noncompliance matters brought before the Commission, while the Research and Responsible Gaming team will follow to discuss the GameSense Quarterly Report, an evaluation of PlayMyWay, as well as risk identification and response.

The Legal Division and Research & Responsible Gaming are then anticipated to discuss considerations for digital payments in casino gaming. Following that, the MGC will engage in a discussion and possible adoption of a revised Mission Statement.

A report is then expected to follow, covering daily fantasy sports as well as illegal sports wagering markets, ahead of an anticipated executive session. A subsequent executive session is expected to follow, covering an MGC personnel matter.

Commissioners Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting. There is time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
