Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on August 24, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #474 on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will review meeting minutes from MGC meetings previously held on January 27, 2023, January 20, 2023, and February 2, 2023.

Following that, Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will lead an administrative update that will cover an overview of FY23 financial gaming obligations.

The Community Affairs Division will then lead the following portion of the meeting, which will cover Quarterly Reports from Encore Boston Harbor and Plainridge Park Casino.

Quarterly Reports will continue to be presented from licensees in the ensuing portion of the meeting, which will be led by the Sports Wagering Division. Penn Sports Interactive and Caesars Sportsbook are expected to present their reports ahead of a request by Caesars Sportsbook for a temporary waiver from a reporting requirement. Sports Wagering Operator Requests for temporary waivers from certain provisions of 205 CMR 257 and 205 CMR 238 will also be considered. Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield, BetMGM, and FanDuel are also expected to discuss updates to their associated house rules with the Commission. The MGC will also consider an event catalog addition request regarding pickleball.

Community Affairs will then lead discussions on potential modifications to the Community Mitigation Fund, as well as the North Attleboro Community Mitigation Fund 2021 Reserve Grant change in scope.

The Legal Division is then set to lead the following portion of the meeting, where they are expected to cover four regulations with the Commission: 205 CMR 230, 205 CMR 256.05, 205 CMR 219, and 205 CMR 231.

Following that, Commissioners will be provided with a permanent Executive Director hiring update, which will include the continued discussions of the potential use of a search firm and the selection of a screening committee for the position.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, where the MGC will say farewell to Loretta Lillios, the Director of the Investigations & Enforcement Bureau.

There is also time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
