Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on August 1, 2024; Conference Call Available

WHO:                    Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Interim Chair Jordan Maynard and Commissioners Brad Hill, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #527 on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Once the meeting is called to order, commissioners will consider meeting minutes from a series of Commission meetings held on February 8, 2024, February 21, 2024, and February 28, 2024. Following that, the Commission will receive an administrative update from Executive Director Dean Serpa, as well as a Legislative update from Commissioner Brad Hill.

The Research and Responsible Gaming division will update the commission on the National Voluntary Self Exclusion Program, present a new report, and a review of GameSense’s Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Fourth Quarter Report.

The Investigations and Enforcement Bureau will follow by leading a discussion on alleged noncompliance matters, as well as a review of the IEB’s recommendation of an assessment of a Civil Administrative penalty.

A DraftKings’ request to void wagers per 205 CMR h238.35(2), as well as amendments to DraftKing’s house rules will be discussed and votes are anticipated.  A discussion of wager limitations will follow.

Afterwards, the Commission will move into a discussion regarding the upcoming five-year expiration of Wynn Resorts, Limited and Wynn MA, LLC.

General Counsel Todd Grossman will review the following regulations, with votes anticipated on each:

  • 205 CMR 3.00: Harness Horse Racing, specifically, 205 CMR 3.12: Judges
  • 205 CMR 3.00: Harness Horse Racing, specifically, 205 CMR 3.29: Medications and Prohibited Substances
  • 205 CMR 6.24: Deposits
  • 205 CMR 219.04: Applying for Leave to Obtain a Renewed Temporary License

The Commission will then review the newly designed MGC Seal of Approval.

The Commission anticipates it will meet in executive session to discuss security at the casino facilities. The Commission will then move into a separate executive session to review minutes from previous executive sessions.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is time reserved at the end of the meeting for any other business the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
