Registration Remains Open for the MGC’s May 14 Conference on Examining Social Impacts of Sports Betting and Changing Gambling Landscape

Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on 5/10

WHO:                   Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chairman Steve Crosby, Commissioner Gayle Cameron, Commissioner Eileen O’Brien, Commissioner Bruce Stebbins and Commissioner Enrique Zuniga  

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) will hold its 242nd open public meeting on THURSDAY, May 10, 2018.

The public meeting will begin with an update from Executive Director Ed Bedrosian about regulatory preparations in advance of the MGM Springfield opening.

MGC’s Research and Responsible Gaming Director Mark Vander Linden will seek a Commission vote on an updated version of the Responsible Gaming Framework. Researchers from the UMass Donahue Institute and the SEIGMA team will present the Commission with a two-year analysis of Massachusetts State Lottery Revenue and Plainridge Park Casino. Also, SEIGMA researchers will introduce a new interactive, mapping tool designed to make Massachusetts data on social and economic variables more accessible to the public. The data is composed of the ongoing research conducted as part of MGC’s robust Research Agenda to understand the social and economic impacts of expanded gaming.

The Licensing Division will present a proposed list of exempt service employees for Plainridge Park Casino and will seek a Commission vote. The Legal Division will seek a Commission vote on two amended regulations regarding gaming equipment and gaming service employees.

Workforce, Supplier and Diversity Development Director Jill Griffin will present economic access grants to several local organizations including Chelsea Collaborative, La Comunidad, and the Asian American Civic Association.
