NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING IN THE HOST COMMUNITY PURSUANT TO M.G.L. c.23K §17 (c) AND 205 CMR 118.05 TO CONSIDER THE APPLICATION FOR A CATEGORY 1 GAMING LICENSE

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §§ 18-25 and G.L. c.23K, §§17(c) and (d), notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. The meeting will take place:

PUBLIC MEETING

This public hearing is the continuation of the hearing held on June 24, 2014 and is intended to provide the Commission with the opportunity to hear comments and address concerns relative to the proposal of Mohegan Sun MA, LLC (“applicant”) to build a gaming establishment in Revere, MA including the scope and quality of the proposed gaming area and amenities, the integration of the proposed gaming establishment into the surrounding community and the extent of required mitigation plans and receive input from members of the public from an impacted community.  A copy of the applicant’s application is available for review on the Commission’s website www.massgaming.com.  No votes or decisions will be made at this hearing; it is simply intended as an opportunity for the Commission to gather information and gauge public sentiment relative to the application.

Commissioner McHugh will preside over this public hearing.  The applicant and its agents and representatives shall attend the public hearing and respond to questions as directed by the Commission. Representatives of Revere, representatives of the surrounding communities previously designated by the Commission, and representatives of the impacted live entertainment venues previously designated by the Commission may attend the public hearing and respond to questions as directed by the Commission.  Any other interested person may attend the public hearing.

Those who wish to submit written comments in advance of the hearing may do so by sending an email to mgccomments@state.ma.us  with the name of the applicant in the subject line. All comments received via email will be made public in their entirety, including the identity of the commenter, and distributed to the Commission for their review prior to the hearing.

The purpose of this hearing is solely to provide an opportunity for those members of the public who signed up to speak at the June 24, 2014 hearing, but were not given the opportunity to provide input to the Commission.  A list of the people who signed up to speak but did not have the opportunity to speak is available here and speakers will be limited to those whose names appear on that list.  In order to use the available time most efficiently, the Commission will limit each speaker to 4 minutes.

The following is the anticipated agenda for the public meeting:

1. Call to order and introductory remarks by the Commissioner McHugh
2. Comments by members of the public who signed up to speak at the June 24, 2014 meeting but were not heard.
3. Other business – reserved for matters the Commission did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
