With the retirement of Chair Cathy Judd-Stein, Governor Healey is preparing to appoint a new commissioner to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).
The MGC consists of five full-time commissioners, one each appointed solely by the Governor, Treasurer, and Attorney General, and two appointed by a majority vote of those officials. The MGC is responsible for overseeing and implementing the licensing and regulation process for two casinos—MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor—the sole statewide slots parlor, Plainridge Park Casino, as well as the Commonwealth’s horse racing and sports wagering industries.
Those interested in the role are encouraged to visit the Governor’s website and submit an application to be considered. The Governor’s office is currently accepting applications through March 18, 2024.
