WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Interim Chair Jordan Maynard and Commissioners Brad Hill, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #518 on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Once the meeting is called to order, commissioners will consider meeting minutes from a series of Commission meetings held on December 9, 2022 and December 12, 2023. Following that, Commissioner Brad Hill will lead a Legislative Update.
The Investigations and Enforcement Bureau will then lead the next portion of the meeting, where they will first cover a request by Encore Boston Harbor for service registration exemptions. After that, the Commission will review a recommendation by the IEB of an assessment of a civil administrative penalty regarding noncompliance with permissible sports wagering offerings. That conversation will be followed by a discussion regarding the IEB’s role in adjudicatory hearings related to alleged noncompliance with sports wagering statutes and regulations.
The Commission will also hold discussions on the financial suitability investigation process for sports wagering operators and vendors, and on the collective bargaining of the SEIU Local 888 Agreement. Both of those conversations are expected to precede Executive Sessions on each matter.
The Legal Division will lead the portion of the meeting set to begin following those Executive Sessions. They are slated to cover a review and approval of amendments to the mutual online access agreement between Wynn Resorts, Ltd. and Caesars Interactive Entertainment, LLC. Following a related Executive Session on that matter, the Legal Division will then lead a conversation regarding 205 CMR 238.12: Reserve Requirement.
Following that, the Community Affairs Division will lead discussions on a review of Impacted Live Entertainment Venue process and Community Mitigation Fund applications.
The Sports Wagering Division is then expected to hold conversations regarding an update to operators’ status complying with 205 CMR 257: Data Privacy, a request by AccessIT Group, Inc. for a waiver from 205 CMR 243.01(1)(x)(2)(c), and an additional request for approval of AccessIT Group, Inc. as a qualified independent technical expert.
Research and Responsible Gaming will then lead the ensuing portion of the meeting, where they will present a report on “Assessment of Job Quality at Massachusetts Casinos, 2022.” Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.
There is time reserved at the end of the meeting for any other business the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
