Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on December 14, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #492 on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will vote on a pair of meeting minutes from MGC meetings formerly held on March 8, 2023 and March 9, 2023.

Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will then head an administrative update, which is expected to cover an update regarding holiday plans for local casinos, a 2023 meet wrap-up for Plainridge Park Casino, and the racing annual report.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, where the MGC will review a complaint filed in Scanlon, et al. v. DraftKings, Inc. The MGC Human Resources team is then expected to make a recommendation to Commissioners regarding a prospective appointment of an Interim Director of the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau.

Commissioners Eileen O’Brien and Jordan Maynard will then provide an update to the Commission about the MGC Mission Statement. An update regarding an MGC internship program is expected to follow.

The Legal Division will then speak on 205 CMR 258: Sports Wagering Operator Cessation, as well as 205 CMR 238.12: Additional Uniform Standards of Accounting Procedures and Internal Controls for Sports Wagering.

The Commission’s Sports Wagering Division will then present on operators’ requests for waivers from 205 CMR 257.04, as well as a potential noncompliance matter.

The Investigations and Enforcement Bureau is then expected to present information regarding a separate potential noncompliance matter.

Research and Responsible Gaming will provide an update on railing installation at MGM Springfield near the GameSense Information Center, ahead of a discussion led by the Racing Division regarding separate requests from Plainridge Park Casino, Suffolk Downs, and Raynham Park.

The Community Affairs Division will then present on a 2023 Community Mitigation Fund grant modification, which is expected to be followed by a diversity update from the MGC.

A legislative update from MGC Chair Cathy Judd-Stein is expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.
