Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on August 17, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #471 on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will vote on a pair of meeting minutes from previously held Commission meetings on January 23, 2023 and January 26, 2023, respectively. Following that, Interim Executive Director Todd Grossman will provide an administrative update.

A legislative update by Commissioner Brad Hill and External Relations Manager Grace Robinson is set to then follow.

The Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB) will then lead an overview of casino property public safety efforts ahead of a potential Executive Session on the matter.

Upon their return, the MGC’s Sports Wagering Division will lead the ensuing portion of the meeting, which will cover Q2 Quarterly Reports from BetMGM, WynnBet, Betr, and DraftKings.

The Research and Responsible Gaming team is then set to lead a discussion regarding the selection of an ad hoc study for the FY24 Research Agenda.

The IEB will then provide an update on Penn Entertainment, Inc.’s and Plainridge Park Casino’s new branding partner, ESPN. The Commission will then proceed with the selection of an Interim Director of the IEB.

Following that, the Commission will discuss the hiring process for a permanent Executive Director. That will consist of a continued discussion of the potential use of a search firm, as well as the selection of a screening committee for the role.

Commissioner Updates are then set to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is also time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
