Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on June 29, 2023; Conference Call Available

WHO:                     Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Brad Hill, Jordan Maynard, Eileen O’Brien, and Nakisha Skinner

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #462 on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

After the meeting is called to order, the Commission will review meeting minutes from MGC meetings previously held on December 22, 2022 and January 3, 2023.

Following that, Executive Director Karen Wells will lead an administrative update that will cover a Casino Update and Slot Machine and Denomination Breakdown Presentation.

The Racing Division is then set to discuss the Jockeys Guild recognition as well as a request to escrow Race Horse Development Funds that are designated for thoroughbred purses. The Racing Division’s portion of the meeting will round out with discussions on Quarterly Local Aid Payments for Q3 and Q4.

The Research and Responsible Gaming Team will then present an update on Voluntary Self Exclusion, as well as the GameSense Quarterly Report. That will be followed by a presentation on “Views and Perspectives of Springfield Hispanic Residents Towards the MGM Casino, their Homes, Community and Neighborhoods.”

The Sports Wagering Division is expected to follow, where they will cover the Category 3 Sports Wagering Operator Lottery Update. The MGC Finance Team is then slated to lead a final review of the FY24 Budget.

The Legal Division will discuss two regulations with the Commission, 205 CMR 255: Play Management and 205 CMR 256.05: Sports Wagering and Advertising.

The Commission will then review the succession of officers and positions document, as well as hold reviews of the selection process for a permanent Executive Director and the Executive Director job description.

Commissioner Updates are expected to follow, rounding out the meeting.

There is also time allotted near the end of the meeting for any other business that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate at the time of posting.

The Commission reserves the right to vote on these or other matters during the meeting.
