Meeting Notification: MGC to hold public meeting on July 16; Conference Call Available

WHO:                   Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Commissioners Gayle Cameron, Eileen O’Brien, Bruce Stebbins, and Enrique Zuniga 

WHAT:                The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold public meeting #313 on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

During an administrative update from Interim Executive Director Karen Wells, MGC staff will report on the recent reopening of casino and racing operations in the Commonwealth. A vote on this matter is anticipated.

Director Wells and Human Resource Manager Trupti Banda will provide information about the MGC’s status on return to workplace compliance and guidelines, along with the MGC’s internal controls.

Interim General Counsel Todd Grossman will request a vote on the following:

  • 205 CMR 109.00: Authority of Commission to Act in Emergency Situation – Clarifies the authority of the Commission and the IEB to issue orders and/or establish procedures to be followed by the gaming licensees immediately, in the event of an emergency situation,; and Amended Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to finalize the promulgation process
  • 205 CMR 138.68: Expiration of Gaming-related Obligations Owed to Patrons; Payment to the Gaming Revenue Fund – Establishes that the one-year period a casino patron has to claim winnings shall not include any period of time that a casino is not in operation; and Amended Small Business Impact Statement – VOTE to finalize the promulgation process

Commissioner Zuniga will provide an update on the MGC’s Executive Director search.

Chair Judd-Stein will discuss the formation of a Working Group on Equity and Inclusion in the MGC Workplace.
