Public input meetings to offer early opportunity for community members to provide the Commission feedback on nearby resort-casino proposals
WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), representatives from resort-casino applicant Mass Gaming & Entertainment, LLC; members of the public
WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will host a public input meeting as a means to facilitate public discussion in regards to the recently submitted Category 1 or resort-casino application for Region C. The purpose of the meeting is to provide community members, in the host community and potential surrounding communities, an opportunity to provide feedback to the Commission in the early stages of the ‘Evaluation Process’.
From its inception, MGC has committed to ensuring an open, transparent and participatory process. To that end, there will be three primary opportunities for interested parties to offer comment to the Commission about the pending gaming application.
- Written Comments: First, on an ongoing basis, people may submit written comments to the MGC via email at mgccomments@state.ma.us.
- Public Input Meeting: Second, the MGC will convene a public input meeting in a community (Holbrook) adjacent to the proposed host community of the resort-casino proposal. The MGC respectfully requests that speakers either reside in or have a direct affiliation with the host community or one of the potential surrounding communities to the particular applicant.
- Host Community Meeting: Third, MGC will convene a public hearing on the application in the proposed host community – Brockton. That meeting date and location is to be determined.
For a complete list of agenda items, please visit the Meeting Notifications & Agenda page at MassGaming.com. The Public Input Meeting will not be live streamed. A transcript of the meeting will be posted to our website as soon as possible. The Host Community Hearing will be live streamed and available on the MGC homepage. In addition, community members are invited to follow along with live meeting updates by connecting with the Commission on Twitter, @MassGamingComm.
