MGC to hold open meeting in Springfield 3/5; topics include Problem Gambling, MGM Springfield timeline, Mitigation Fund, Race Horse Development Fund

Topics include National Problem Gambling Awareness Month, MGM Springfield project schedule,

Mitigation Reserve Fund and the Race Horse Development Fund

WHO: Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission including Chairman Steve Crosby, Commissioner Gayle Cameron, Commissioner James McHugh, Commissioner Bruce Stebbins and Commissioner Enrique Zuniga

WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold its 146th open public meeting on Thursday, March 5th.

In observance of National Problem Gambling Awareness Month, the Commission will discuss screening, diagnosis, and resources for those with a gambling disorder. The Commission will also hear a presentation from the Cambridge Health Alliance about the upcoming Gambling Disorder Screening Day, which will be observed on March 10th.

Additionally, Commissioners will receive an update on MGM Springfield’s progress to date and future construction timeline.

Commissioners will discuss requests received from communities seeking monies from the 2015 Mitigation Reserve Fund. The Commission will also discuss requests for funding from the Race Horse Development Fund.

Lastly, the Commission is expected to vote on draft regulations regarding gross gaming revenue taxes and financial reporting.
