POSTPONED IN EVERETT AND REVERE: MassGaming to hold ‘host community’ public hearings on resort-casino gaming applications

WHO:  Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, representatives from resort-casino applicants MGM Springfield, Mohegan Sun MA, and Wynn MA LLC; and members of the public

WHAT: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will host three ‘host community’ public hearings as a means to facilitate public discussion regarding the recently submitted Category 1 or resort-casino applications. These public hearings are in addition to upcoming meetings held by the Commission in neighboring communities to the proposal. The purpose of these meetings is to provide members of the public with an additional opportunity to address the resort-casinos applicants and the Commission. The meetings will also serve as a vehicle at which the community can receive updates from applicants on their resort-casino proposals and mitigation strategies. No vote or decisions will be made at these hearings; they are opportunities for the Commission to gather information and gauge public sentiment relative to the applications. GUIDELINES: From its inception, MassGaming has committed to ensuring an open, transparent and participatory process.  In addition to participation at the host community meetings, the Commission is accepting written comments on an ongoing basis. Interested parties may submit written comments to MassGaming via email at mgccomments@state.ma.us. All comments received via email will be made public and will be distributed to members of the Commission for their review prior to the meeting.

Public officials from a host or surrounding community, representatives of interested parties and members of the host or surrounding communities who wish to speak at one of the scheduled host community meetings may place their name on a list of speakers by sending an email to mgccomments@state.ma.us with ‘Request to address the Commission/name of applicant’ in the subject line.  In the body of the email, the Commission respectfully requests that you include your name and town of residence.

In order to use the available time most efficiently, the Commission reserves the right to limit the amount of time for speakers depending on attendance at the meetings and also requests that speakers are limited to the region regarding these specific resort-casino applications.
